Today, we’re going to talk about the four common problems that dental veneers can fix.
Hi, my name is Dr Judith, and I’m one of the principal dentists here at Elevate Dental.
The other day I was speaking with one of our patients Martha from South Yarra, who was surprised to know that her crooked teeth could be fixed with veneers. Her wedding was coming up and she was short on time and she really wanted to have the perfect smile. Now, this is actually quite a common situation where a lot of people don’t realise that veneers can be a possible option when it comes to achieving both health and beauty for your teeth. So I’ve decided to share some common problems that dental veneers can fix.
Chipped, Broken or Uneven Front Teeth.
This is probably the most common reason why people choose to get veneers.
These days, one of the first things people notice when you meet them is your smile. When people feel self-conscious about their front teeth when they’re chipped or don’t look even, they want to hide it or take photos in a particular way to mask the area they don’t like. Having veneers often helps to boost their confidence and it’s amazing to see people transform when they come in at the end of their smile journey.
The most common presenting complaint when people come in with worn teeth is, “Oh, my teeth look short and I don’t know why. I don’t remember them looking short, but now they are and I’m really self-conscious about them.”
A lot of people do grind their teeth at night time. We subconsciously do it and as time goes by the teeth will wear down until they are like stumps. Porcelain veneers in these cases do two things – help strengthen and protect the worn teeth and make them look beautiful at the same time.
Depending on the severity of the crookedness, we can sometimes use porcelain veneers to fix the appearance of crooked teeth. A lot of people choose this when they’re short on time and they don’t want to go through the process of braces or Invisalign, just because the process for veneers is a lot quicker.
Discoloured Teeth With Old Fillings.
As time goes by teeth and old fillings can get stained with coffee, red wine, curry, resulting in a rainbow of colours and weakened front teeth. Porcelain veneers can help both strengthen and improve the appearance of the teeth with long-lasting results.
