Dentures are removable dental replacements that are used to fill in spaces of multiple missing teeth. They are the most affordable option and can be used as a temporary or permanent solution for anyone who wants to restore a full set of teeth. Here at Elevate Dental, we offer several denture solutions for our patients - we’ll tailor the process specifically to your needs, depending on what type of dentures you require.

The Process:

The procedure to get dentures depends on what type of dentures you choose.

Immediate Dentures

Getting Immediate Dentures is a fast, streamlined process, ideal for a temporary solution. You’ll be done in just one day, with two appointments! Here are the three simple steps for your dentures:

Molding

During a morning visit, we take a mould of your mouth.

Clear Away

Then in the afternoon, we will remove the necessary teeth.

Apply

On the same afternoon, we provide the custom-made denture.

Removable Dentures

Removable Dentures are the perfect solution for those who want the flexibility of a removable prosthetic. However, they require more work than immediate dentures, and result in three or more appointments. This is because we require time to build the middle frame, custom make the teeth and fit them properly. Here are the three steps that will occur over multiple appointments:

Benefits of having Dentures

Dental technology has come a long way, and modern dentures provide a number of benefits, such as:

Types of Dentures

Elevate Dental offers different denture solutions with materials such as acrylic, chrome or Valplast, which is a thermoplastic nylon material used for those with allergies to other materials. The following are the types of dentures we offer:

Removable Partial Dentures are replacement teeth that are fitted onto a base made of either cobalt chrome or acrylic. Each removable denture is custom-made for the patient’s needs and designed to replace a series of missing teeth, but not all teeth. The chrome base is thin and light, which provides comfort, while the plastic base offers affordability and ease of use.

Immediate Dentures are ideal as a temporary solution, so you never have to be without teeth. These are created and provided the day that teeth are removed, and mainly used to replace front teeth for aesthetic purposes. Immediate dentures can help the gums heal quicker from tooth extraction and allow the patient to maintain normal functions like eating and clear speech. When you come to us for Immediate Dentures, we will do follow-up appointments to reline and adjust them as your gum changes shape from healing.

Implant-Supported Dentures are a more costly but permanent denture solution. In this case, a patient may receive an Immediate Denture, allowing normal function while we prepare the supported dentures. This type of teeth replacement uses a series of titanium implants that are permanently fitted into the bone, and the denture will then fit onto the implants. This allows for a natural feel and function without the need to remove them for cleaning or during normal activities.

When you visit our team of experienced professionals at Elevate Dental, we will do a thorough examination to see which denture is best. And with your input, we can find the solution that best suits your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our trusted dentists are here to help you with your individual needs. Explore our FAQs below or contact us if you have a specific question.

Caring for your dentures is similar to caring for your natural teeth. They do have to be cleaned and maintained regularly, and just like your natural teeth, are subject to staining from tobacco, coffee, and tea. Your dentist will provide specific steps to caring for your dentures along with which toothpaste and soaking solutions to use. The following are some general steps to caring for dentures:

  • Maintain regular brushing and cleaning like natural teeth
  • Soak the dentures in water as soon as they are removed; this is especially important for acrylic dentures to keep them from drying and cracking
  • If you notice buildup on the dentures, use a denture cleaning solution recommended by your dentist
  • If you do not have a denture-soaking solution, use warm water with a dash of vinegar and soak for 1 hour, then scrub off deposits

With proper care, most dentures can last 7 – 10 years. Fortunately, dentures are affordable and many people have no problem replacing them when needed.

Prices can vary depending on the types of dentures, and the requirements of your dentures. Partial dentures are going to be more affordable than complete dentures, and dental implants may be a more cost effective solution if you only need to replace/fill in for a small number of teeth.

No – wearing dentures should not be painful or uncomfortable. During the initial period, there will be some mild discomfort as your mouth begins to get used to the dentures, but no pain. If you do experience pain or discomfort while wearing dentures, speak to the team at Elevate Dental and we’ll make the necessary readjustments.

You can sleep with dentures in – there will be no issue if you fall asleep while still wearing your dentures! However, we do recommend that you remove them before going to sleep each night, soaking them in a cleaning solution.
