Last week I saw one of our patients Vivian from Toorak at her regular dental checkup appointment. She’s had a missing tooth for a while and she asked me, “How much does a dental implant cost?” We get asked this often, I thought I’d share this video with you just in case you are also considering this treatment.
The cost for a dental implant can range between 4.5k to 6.5k. A dental implant consists of two parts.
There’s the biocompatible titanium post that is placed in the jawbone. This then supports the second part, which is the dental crown.
This crown should be meticulously handcrafted by a master ceramicist. And it’s designed to look exactly like a natural tooth. Once completed, you can chew on this like a normal tooth with complete confidence.
Generally half of the cost is the titanium implant cost, and the other half of the dental implant treatment is the dental crown. The choice of manufacturer will impact the price.
The much bigger and well-established international manufacturers with a longer warranty period will charge more than the smaller players.
In terms of the dental crown, the price is generally impacted by the choice of material, as well as choosing to use the experience and skillset of a master ceramicist. We have another video that goes more in depth about the price of dental crowns, which we will include in the show notes.< Sometimes there may be variations to the cost if further steps are required, such as if additional grafting to the supporting bone is required if the implant site is deemed to be weak or insufficient. Dental implants that are well maintained can last more than 10 to 20 years in most cases, and often more than 25 years.
