Hi, Dr James here, and I’m one of the principal dentists at Elevate Dental. Yesterday, I was speaking with our new patient Terry from Richmond. He mentioned that it has actually been a while since he last had a dental check and clean. He wanted to know what we actually do during a check and clean. This is quite a common question we get, especially for patients who haven’t seen a dentist for a very long time. So that’s why I thought I’d make a video sharing with you what happens during a check-up and clean here at Elevate Dental.
What to expect at Elevate Dental
At Elevate Dental, the dental checkup and clean service won’t be the standard check and clean that you’re used to. Our main goals are to make the visit as pleasant and comfortable as possible, to complete a thorough analysis at the checkup so that you can have every aspect of good dental health, and to deeply understand your specific and personal goals so that we can partner with you to achieve them. The Checkup Process
We take digital scans of your teeth and at least 10 high-resolution photos of your teeth and gums to analyse and assess for any disorders with the jaw joints and chewing muscles in the head and neck, for cancer screening to detect early signs of any mouth cancers, presence and degree of gum disease that may show as bleeding gums or bad breath, any dental decay and whether they actually require fillings or can be reversed. We look for signs of damage to the teeth from any underlying clenching or grinding habit. We also perform a smile analysis for any colour, shape or alignment imperfections, should you be wishing to improve your smile. We will give you a diet analysis and requisite changes to help prevent tooth damage and lastly, an oral hygiene analysis and individualised changes to maintain healthy teeth and gums at home.
The Clean
Once all the analysis is complete, we will do a full mouth clean and polish to remove any visible bacteria and stains to give you that sparkly, clean feeling. As with all patients, this treatment is completed while you zone out with our noise-cancelling headphones.
